7 things You Should Know about Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing has increased in the past few years. Merchants can have alot of marketers that get paid for thier efforts. Affiliate marketing can be easily started with little money. Selecting the best affiliate program to promote as an affiliate marketer can be hard. What should you look for when choosing the perfect affiliate program? You need to consider a few things before you go about it.

1. Do they notify you by e-mail when you make a sale?

2. How often will you receive a commission check?

3. Do you get credited for a sale if people come back in month and then make a purchase?
It's a fact that it takes more than one visit to your site before a decision to purchase is made. That is why the program should use tracking cookies to credit you if your customer decides to buy at another time.

4. Do you get 50% or more for each sale as commission?
It's important that you know how much a program will pay you for a sale. Obviously, it will be a waste of time and effort promoting it if it does not pay you well. You will be spending more than earning. It's wise to join an affiliate program that pays high commissions. The best programs can offer up to 75% commission and sometimes even more. I try to stay away from anything less than 50% unless it is residual commissions.

5. Does it provide you with sales material? (links, banners, classified ads, sales letters etc)
Most affiliate programs these days are heavily equipped with marketing tools. Does it provide content, special offers and samples that you can use for your promotion? Make sure you check out what they are providing you.

6. Does it pay commissions on sales of people under you?
As an affiliate marketer, you can't just make profits out of just your own sales. Anyone who joins the program, that you referred, is sure to join your downline, usually a percentage of profit made by their sales would also come back to you. All people try to have the largest possible downline. Also, do not forget that the ones joining under your referrals help in getting a percentage of the profits.

7. Will they keep in touch with you on a regularly?

Selecting the perfect affiliate program can be difficult.Consider all the points above, so you will not end up getting into a deal you will regret later.
